Students used Idea Pad to create concept maps right on the Palm. Since the screen is small, a large comprehensive map is difficult to develop, but the advantage of this program over Inspiration is its price (free!) and the ability to create these maps on the Palm. Idea Pad also allows a student to switch between outline view and concept map view, which really shows the contrast between the way biology used to be taught (outlining large amounts of material linearly) and the way it is taught now (demonstrating relationships that can be multi-nodal).
