President Bush Meets with CEOs of U.S. Automobile Manufacturers
President Bush on Tuesday said, "We've had a fascinating discussion
about a lot of major issues that we share in common. ... We talked
about our mutual desire to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.
Obviously, as these automobile manufacturers begin to incorporate new
technologies that will enable us to power our cars in different ways,
it will make it easier for me to be able to tell the American people
we're using less foreign oil. And that's in our economic interests, as
well as in our national security interests."
President Bush Welcomes Prime Minister Olmert of Israel to the White House
President Bush on Monday said, "I appreciate the Prime Minister's
strategic thoughts. He cares deeply about his country, and he cares
deeply about securing the peace. ... But the whole central thrust of
our discussions was based upon our understanding that we're involved in
an ideological struggle between extremists and radicals versus people
who just simply want to live in peace, and that as democracies we have
an obligation, obviously, to listen to the will of our people, but at
the same time, work together to help those who want to live in a
peaceful society achieve their
ambitions." In Focus: Global Diplomacy
President Bush Honors Veterans at Arlington National Cemetery
President Bush on Saturday said, "On this Veterans Day, we give thanks
for the 24 million Americans who strengthen our nation with their
example of service and sacrifice. ... As we raise our flag and as the
bugle sounds taps, we remember that the men and women of America's
Armed Forces serve a great cause. They follow in a great tradition,
handed down to them by America's veterans." In Focus: Veterans

Economic
growth continues with 92,000 new jobs created in October. There have
been over 6.8 million new jobs created since August of 2003, and the
unemployment rate decreased to 4.4 percent, the lowest rate since May

President Bush's top priority is the safety and security of the
American people. Though America and its allies are safer since 9/11, we
are not yet safe. We have important challenges ahead as we wage a
long-term battle not just against terrorists, but against the ideology
that supports their agenda.
